A modern-day witch uses spells and magic to get men to fall in love with her.

The redwood forests of Arcata, California, offered a sanctuary for Elaine Parks, a young witch recently widowed by a tragic overdose. Arcata, with its liberal leanings and a surprising tolerance for the occult, seemed like the perfect place to rebuild her life. She found solace in an apartment building owned by her mentor, Barbara, and maintained by the vivacious and surprisingly open-minded interior decorator, Trish Manning.

Trish, intrigued by Elaine's otherworldly aura, invited her to a charming tea room. Their conversation was interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Trish's husband, Richard, a man whose eyes, upon meeting Elaine's, ignited with an unsettling intensity.

Feeling lost and lonely, Elaine decided to cast a spell to attract a new lover. Her ritual, a potent brew of herbs and incantations, seemed to work almost instantly. Wayne, a charismatic professor at the local university, was drawn to her like a moth to a flame. He accepted her invitation to dinner at his secluded cabin, unaware of the potent hallucinogenic concoction Elaine had prepared.

The evening took a dark turn. Wayne, under the influence of the powerful drug, became emotionally unhinged, confessing his deepest fears and desires. His vulnerability, instead of endearing him to Elaine, repulsed her. The next morning, Wayne was found dead, a chillingly macabre scene: his body buried beneath the earth, accompanied by a bottle containing Elaine's urine and a used tampon, a chilling testament to her contempt.

The arrival of Trish, unexpectedly drawn back to town, presented a new opportunity. Elaine, still reeling from the events with Wayne, found herself drawn to Richard's passionate advances. Their affair was brief and tempestuous, ending abruptly when Richard's clinginess and emotional outbursts began to suffocate Elaine.

The disappearance of Professor Wayne brought the attention of the local police, Detective Griff Meadows and his partner, Steve. The discovery of the bottle containing Elaine's bodily fluids at the crime scene quickly led them to her door.

Griff, intrigued by Elaine's enigmatic aura, found himself drawn to her. He invited her on a horseback riding excursion, leading them to a hidden grove where a midsummer solstice festival was underway, a celebration hosted by the leaders of Elaine's coven. The festival culminated in a mock wedding ceremony, where Elaine and Griff were presented with matching rings as a symbol of their newfound connection.

Elaine, surprised by her own feelings, began to believe that she might be falling for Griff. However, his affections, if any, remained unclear.

The tranquility of their newfound connection was shattered by the tragic news of Richard's suicide. Trish, heartbroken and confused, confided in Elaine, suspecting that Richard had been having an affair, an affair that had ultimately driven him to despair.

During a visit to Elaine's apartment, Trish, drawn to the enigmatic aura that clung to Elaine, put on her ring. Elaine, preoccupied, forgot to reclaim it. Trish, left alone, succumbed to an irresistible urge to delve deeper into Elaine's life. She tried on Elaine's clothes, her makeup, her wigs, feeling a strange sense of power and control.

But her exploration took a chilling turn. Hidden within a secret compartment, Trish discovered a shrine dedicated to Elaine's deceased lovers, Richard among them. A wave of paranoia and rage washed over her. Trish, once Elaine's confidante, was now consumed by a chilling obsession. She attacked Elaine, her eyes filled with a terrifying fury, vowing that Elaine would "burn for what she has done."

The police investigation into Wayne's death took a sinister turn. Detective Steve, growing increasingly suspicious, discovered that Jimsonweed, the hallucinogen found in Wayne's system, was present in Elaine's apartment. He also uncovered a disturbing connection between Elaine and Jerry, her deceased husband, who, despite having no prior history of drug use, had died of an overdose. Steve accused Griff of allowing his personal feelings for Elaine to cloud his judgment. Griff, enraged by the accusation, struck Steve in a fit of rage and stormed out.

At a local cabaret, Elaine, surrounded by the town's residents, faced the accusations. The police, armed with DNA evidence linking her to both Wayne and Richard, as well as incriminating evidence found in her apartment, presented a damning case. Elaine, maintaining her composure, claimed that she had simply buried Wayne in accordance with her religious beliefs after a night of consensual lovemaking.

However, her explanation fell on deaf ears. The crowd, whipped into a frenzy by the accusations, turned on her, chanting "Burn the witch!" Griff, torn between his duty and his growing obsession with Elaine, fought his way through the crowd to protect her. They fled the scene, pursued by the enraged mob.

Back at Elaine's apartment, Elaine, cornered and desperate, presented Griff with a strange concoction. He, instinctively wary, tossed it to the floor. As the liquid shattered on the ground, Elaine experienced a chilling vision – the ghosts of her past victims, their faces contorted in expressions of love and longing.

Driven by a chilling madness, Elaine retrieved an athame, a ceremonial dagger, from her altar. She raised it high, mirroring a disturbing painting on her wall depicting a ritualistic sacrifice. With a chillingly deliberate motion, she plunged the dagger into Griff's chest, again and again.

Clutching the bloody athame to her chest, Elaine smiled. In her mind, she saw a different image, a vision of a mock wedding, this time with Griff declaring his love, proposing marriage, and leading her away on a majestic unicorn, a grotesque parody of the handfasting ceremony that had captivated her imagination.

The echoes of the mob's chants faded, replaced by the chilling silence of the night. Elaine, alone in her apartment, surrounded by the remnants of her dark desires, was finally free. Free to indulge in the chilling fantasies that had consumed her, free to become the witch she was always destined to be.
