Summary:
Gautam, a security guard with an uncanny ability to find things, is obsessed with finding a hidden treasure connected to his family's lineage to a temple guardian. His quest leads him to a perilous adventure in Pakistan, where he must decipher ancient clues, battle a ruthless fundamentalist, and recover a lost idol to save a priceless heritage and fulfill his destiny.
Plot:
The film begins with a historical prologue set in the year 1515, showing the construction of a powerful idol and a temple. A guardian family is entrusted with protecting the temple and its treasures. Flash forward to 1947, during the Partition of India. The guardian family, facing violence, hides a priceless idol and a vast treasure within a temple in a remote village, leaving behind cryptic clues for future generations. The village eventually falls into Pakistan.
In the present day, Gautam (Gopichand) is a security guard working at an ATM. He possesses an unusual talent for finding lost objects, a skill he developed after his grandfather, from the original guardian family, dedicated his life to searching for the lost temple and its treasure. Gautam, an ardent atheist, initially dismisses his grandfather's obsession. However, after his grandfather's death, a series of events and the discovery of a clue in his grandfather's diary ignite Gautam's interest. He learns that the treasure is not just gold and jewels but also an ancient idol with immense spiritual significance.
His quest leads him to a cryptic map and a piece of jewelry that belonged to his ancestors. He believes the idol is located in the remnants of the ancient temple now deep within Pakistan. He decides to embark on this perilous journey, not out of faith, but out of a desire for adventure and to fulfill his grandfather's legacy.
Gautam uses his finding ability to locate a missing passport and uses it to travel to Pakistan. During his journey, he encounters Sreenidhi (Taapsee Pannu), a devout Brahmin girl who is also on a mission to find her lost temple and its idol, which she believes holds the key to her family's well-being. Sreenidhi is initially hesitant to trust Gautam due to his non-religious stance, but they eventually form an uneasy alliance as their paths converge.
Their journey is fraught with danger. They are pursued by a ruthless and fanatic Pakistani fundamentalist named Sultan (Shakti Kapoor), who also seeks the idol and treasure, believing it will bring him power and justify his extremist views. Sultan is a formidable and violent antagonist who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He has his own network of spies and informants, making it difficult for Gautam and Sreenidhi to evade him.
Gautam and Sreenidhi navigate treacherous deserts, ancient ruins, and hostile territories. They decipher cryptic clues hidden in old texts, ancient artifacts, and geographical landmarks. Their journey involves a mix of action sequences, intelligent deductions, and narrow escapes from Sultan and his men. They also encounter helpful locals and, at times, suspicious figures.
As they get closer to the temple, they discover that the treasure is not just material wealth but also ancient knowledge and spiritual artifacts. The idol itself holds immense historical and cultural value. The film builds tension as they race against time, with Sultan closing in.
The climax takes place within the hidden temple. Gautam and Sreenidhi find the temple and the idol. A final confrontation ensues between Gautam and Sultan, involving intense action sequences. Gautam, despite his atheism, finds himself protecting the sacred idol and its heritage with fierce determination. He uses his intelligence and fighting skills to outsmart Sultan and his army.
In the end, Gautam defeats Sultan, recovering the idol and securing the treasure. The film concludes with Gautam, having found not just the treasure but also a deeper understanding of his heritage and purpose. He still maintains his logical outlook but has a newfound respect for history and the beliefs that drove his ancestors. The treasure is returned to India, and the ancient idol is preserved. Gautam and Sreenidhi's relationship also evolves, with a hint of romance, as they both achieve their respective goals through their shared "sahasam" (adventure/courage).
