THE VISIT (2015)

Summary:

Two siblings, Rebecca and Tyler, embark on a week-long visit to their estranged maternal grandparents' secluded Pennsylvania farm. Initially excited to finally meet them, the children soon discover that their Nana and Pop Pop exhibit increasingly bizarre and frightening behavior after dark.

As the days pass, the grandparents' actions escalate from peculiar to truly terrifying, forcing Becca and Tyler to uncover a dark and dangerous secret about the people they are staying with, leading to a desperate fight for survival.

Plot:

Aspiring filmmaker Becca and her younger brother Tyler are sent by their mother, Paula, to spend a week with their grandparents, whom Paula hasn't spoken to in 15 years. Upon arrival at the remote farmhouse, Nana and Pop Pop seem welcoming but quickly establish strict rules, including a 9:30 PM bedtime and a prohibition from entering the basement. Becca begins filming a documentary about their visit, capturing the unfolding events.

As the week progresses, the children witness increasingly disturbing behavior: Nana sleepwalks naked and scratches walls, Pop Pop exhibits violent mood swings and paranoia, and strange noises emanate from outside their room at night. Their attempts to contact their mother are met with dismissal. Eventually, they discover evidence suggesting their "grandparents" are not who they claim to be, leading to a horrifying revelation that the people they are staying with are escaped mental patients who murdered their real grandparents and assumed their identities. The film culminates in a terrifying confrontation as Becca and Tyler fight for their lives.
