Plot:

Jay Baruchel arrives in Los Angeles to visit his old friend Seth Rogen. After an uncomfortable evening playing video games, Seth convinces a reluctant Jay to attend a housewarming party at James Franco's new mansion, packed with various celebrities. Jay, feeling out of place among the Hollywood crowd, steps outside with Seth, just as a massive earthquake hits, followed by strange blue beams of light abducting people. Chaos erupts as the ground opens up, swallowing guests, and a giant sinkhole appears outside Franco's house.

Seth, Jay, James Franco, Jonah Hill, and Craig Robinson manage to survive and barricade themselves inside the house, joined later by Danny McBride, who was passed out during the initial catastrophe. As they ration their limited supplies and try to make sense of the unfolding apocalypse, their friendships are tested by paranoia, selfishness, and the increasingly bizarre events outside, including encounters with demons and other survivors. The group eventually realizes that the only way to survive the end of days and ascend to heaven is through selfless acts, leading to a series of comedic and ultimately sacrificial attempts to achieve redemption.
