VACATION (2015)

Summary:

Following in his father Clark's footsteps, a grown-up Rusty Griswold attempts to rekindle family bonds by surprising his wife and two sons with a cross-country road trip to Walley World, the iconic amusement park from his childhood.

The journey quickly devolves into a series of increasingly absurd and embarrassing misadventures, testing the limits of the Griswold family's patience and sanity as they strive to reach their nostalgic destination.

Plot:

Rusty Griswold, now a pilot for a regional airline, feels his family has fallen into a rut. To inject some excitement and recreate a cherished memory, he decides to take his wife Debbie and their two sons, the shy James and the aggressive Kevin, on a surprise road trip to Walley World before it closes permanently. He rents a ridiculously oversized and technologically advanced Albanian minivan, much to Debbie's chagrin, and plans a route filled with various "fun" stops across the country.

Their ambitious trip is immediately plagued by one disaster after another. They encounter a deranged truck driver, accidentally take a dip in raw sewage at a hot spring, and visit Debbie's ultra-successful sister Audrey and her macho, seemingly perfect husband Stone Crandall, leading to uncomfortable comparisons. Further mishaps include vehicle breakdowns, a run-in with the police, and a series of increasingly awkward family interactions. Despite the mounting chaos and the family's dwindling morale, Rusty remains stubbornly determined to deliver the "perfect" family vacation, culminating in a frantic dash to Walley World and a confrontation with a grown-up, disgruntled Kevin Bacon.
