Set against the vibrant backdrop of Chennai, the film unfolds the story of Purusothaman, affectionately known as Porus, a young man driven by the singular ambition of becoming an Indian Police Service (IPS) officer. Hailing from a modest middle-class family, Porus is deeply rooted in his values, his life revolving around his father, Constable Ponnuswamy, his nurturing mother, Kanchana, and his beloved sister, Dwaraka.
Parallel to Porus's aspirations, the narrative introduces Parisudham, a passionate social activist spearheading a protest against a polluting factory in Karaikudi District. This factory, owned by the powerful and ruthless business magnate, Nedunchezhiyan, has devastated a once-thriving village with its toxic waste. The clash between social justice and unchecked corporate power forms a crucial thematic thread.
The narrative further introduces Guna, the brother of the local gangster, Selvam, who becomes a source of harassment for Dwaraka. When Guna's advances become threatening, Porus intervenes, taking Guna to Selvam's residence. Selvam, surprisingly, reprimands his brother, showcasing a complex dynamic within the criminal underworld. Faizal, Dwaraka's friend, confesses his love to Porus, adding another layer to the intricate web of relationships.
Simultaneously, Elanchezhiyan, or Ela, Nedunchezhiyan's younger brother, is portrayed as a spoiled and arrogant individual. His harassment of a girl named Divya leads to a tragic parallel, with both Divya and Dwaraka attempting suicide. The ensuing chaos brings together the families of Porus, Nedunchezhiyan, and Divya, revealing the stark contrasts in their responses. While Nedunchezhiyan attempts to bribe Parisudham, and Ela's father tries to smooth things over, Dwaraka and Divya stand their ground, publicly humiliating Guna and Ela respectively.
The situation escalates when Ela, Guna, and Nedunchezhiyan plan separate kidnappings. Ela mistakenly abducts Dwaraka, while Nedunchezhiyan's men capture Parisudham. Dwaraka, displaying remarkable resilience, manages to escape, only to witness the brutal murder of Parisudham at the hands of Nedunchezhiyan and his gang. In her desperate attempt to seek help, Dwaraka records a voice message detailing Nedunchezhiyan's involvement and sends it to Faizal. Tragically, both Dwaraka and Faizal are subsequently murdered, leaving Porus and his family devastated.
Porus, consumed by grief and a thirst for justice, embarks on a relentless investigation. He discovers the discrepancies in the timeline of the murders, realizing that the deaths of Faizal and Dwaraka were meticulously planned. He begins to systematically dismantle Nedunchezhiyan's criminal network, targeting each gang member involved. However, Nedunchezhiyan, aware of Porus's actions, eliminates his own men to cover his tracks.
Porus, with the help of a skilled hacker, uncovers a trail of brutal murders orchestrated by Nedunchezhiyan, including the staged death of Guna. He also discovers that Divya was initially targeted for kidnapping, and when he tries to protect her, Nedunchezhiyan’s men kill her. The hacker manages to retrieve the voice message from Faizal's phone, revealing the incriminating evidence against Nedunchezhiyan.
Nedunchezhiyan, alerted by his henchman, Mike, kidnaps Ponnuswamy, demanding the recording in exchange for his life. Porus, in a desperate attempt to save his father, confronts Nedunchezhiyan and his gang. A violent confrontation ensues, during which Porus eliminates Ela. He then brings Selvam to face Nedunchezhiyan, prompting Selvam to avenge his brother's death by brutally killing Nedunchezhiyan and his remaining men.
In a final act of retribution, Porus, with the help of Divya's grieving father, Raghupathi, disposes of the bodies of Nedunchezhiyan and Ela by feeding them to crocodiles at the zoo where Raghupathi works, leaving no trace of their crimes.
The film concludes with Porus achieving his dream of becoming an IPS officer. He also secretly provides financial assistance to Parisudham's son for his medical treatment, demonstrating his commitment to justice and compassion. The narrative highlights the themes of familial bonds, social injustice, and the relentless pursuit of truth, culminating in a powerful message of resilience and retribution.
