Summary:

Warcraft is a fantasy action film based on Blizzard Entertainment's video game series of the same name. The story begins on the dying world of Draenor, where the Orc Horde, led by the powerful warlock Gul'dan, opens a portal to the lush world of Azeroth. Seeking a new home, the Orcs begin their invasion, clashing violently with the human inhabitants, led by King Llane Wrynn and the brave knight Sir Anduin Lothar.

Plot:

The film opens on the dying world of Draenor, a desolate landscape ravaged by the demonic fel magic. Gul'dan, a powerful Orc warlock, harnesses the fel to open the Dark Portal, a magical gateway connecting Draenor to the vibrant world of Azeroth. To fuel the portal and sustain the passage of his vast Orc Horde, Gul'dan sacrifices countless Draenei prisoners, draining their life force. The Orcs, desperate for a new home, pour through the portal, establishing a beachhead in Azeroth and immediately beginning their destructive rampage, attacking human settlements.

In Azeroth, Sir Anduin Lothar, the commander of Stormwind's forces and brother-in-law to King Llane Wrynn, investigates the attacks. He discovers the mutilated bodies of humans and the strange, green-skinned invaders. Lothar brings his findings to King Llane and his council, including the young, inquisitive mage Khadgar, who has abandoned his training at the Kirin Tor. Khadgar examines the bodies and discovers traces of fel magic, a dark, corrupting force. He becomes suspicious of Medivh, the Guardian of Tirisfal, whose magical signature, though different, shares an unusual connection with the fel energy Khadgar detects.

Meanwhile, within the Orc Horde, Durotan, chieftain of the Frostwolf Clan, grows increasingly concerned about Gul'dan's methods. He sees the fel magic not only as a means of conquest but as a corrupting influence that is slowly destroying the Orcs themselves and their new world, just as it did Draenor. His mate, Draka, is pregnant, and Durotan fears for the future of his clan and his unborn son. He attempts to rally his friend, Orgrim Doomhammer, to challenge Gul'dan's leadership and find an alternative path.

During an encounter, the humans capture Garona Halforcen, a half-orc slave who serves Gul'dan. She is brought before King Llane and Lothar. Initially distrustful and hostile, Garona gradually begins to cooperate, acting as an interpreter and providing insights into the Orcs' motivations and the nature of Gul'dan's power. She forms an unlikely bond with Lothar, who treats her with respect, and eventually with King Llane, becoming a crucial bridge between the two warring factions.

Khadgar, driven by his suspicions, travels to Karazhan, Medivh's tower, seeking answers. There, he discovers ancient texts and evidence suggesting Medivh has been corrupted by the fel, and it was Medivh who secretly aided Gul'dan in opening the Dark Portal from Azeroth's side. The fel magic has been slowly consuming Medivh, twisting his mind and body. Khadgar returns to warn the King, but Medivh, sensing his betrayal, begins to assert more control over his corrupted form.

Durotan, determined to save his people, secretly arranges a meeting with King Llane. He proposes an alliance between the Frostwolf Clan and the humans to defeat Gul'dan and his fel-corrupted Horde. However, Orgrim Doomhammer, either out of fear of Gul'dan or a misguided sense of loyalty to the Horde, betrays Durotan's plan to Blackhand, one of Gul'dan's most brutal lieutenants. The meeting between Llane and Durotan is ambushed by Blackhand's forces. A brutal battle ensues, resulting in heavy losses for both the humans and the Frostwolves. Lothar's son, Callan, a young knight, is tragically killed by Blackhand during the ambush, leaving Lothar consumed by grief and a thirst for vengeance. Durotan and Draka are captured by Gul'dan.

Gul'dan, having learned of Durotan's treachery, publicly humiliates him by forcing him into a Mak'gora, a ritual duel to the death, against Blackhand. Durotan, weakened by Gul'dan's fel magic, fights valiantly but is ultimately overpowered and brutally killed by Blackhand. Draka, witnessing her mate's death, manages to hide their infant son, Go'el (who would later be known as Thrall), in a basket in a river before she too is slain. Orgrim Doomhammer, witnessing the cold-blooded murder of his friend, is horrified and vows to avenge Durotan's death.

With Medivh's corruption fully revealed, the humans realize they must act quickly to stop Gul'dan from bringing the entire Orc Horde through the Dark Portal. King Llane, Lothar, and Khadgar devise a plan to assault the Dark Portal and simultaneously confront the corrupted Guardian. Khadgar and Lothar confront Medivh in Karazhan. Medivh, now fully transformed into a monstrous, fel-infused being, unleashes his immense power. Through a desperate and grueling battle, Khadgar, with Lothar's assistance, manages to defeat and kill Medivh, causing the Dark Portal to begin collapsing on Azeroth's side.

At the Dark Portal, King Llane leads his remaining forces in a valiant but ultimately doomed defense against Gul'dan's Horde. Realizing the battle is lost and to ensure Garona's survival and standing among the Orcs, Llane makes a heartbreaking sacrifice. He asks Garona to kill him, fulfilling a prophecy that a human king would fall by her hand, thus making her a hero to the Orcs and allowing her to escape. With tears in her eyes, Garona reluctantly complies, stabbing Llane through the heart. Lothar arrives moments later, witnessing the aftermath and finding his king dead. Enraged by the loss of his king, his son, and his friend Medivh, Lothar challenges Blackhand to a Mak'gora. Fueled by vengeance, Lothar engages Blackhand in a fierce duel and, despite being outmatched in size, uses his skill and fury to defeat and kill Blackhand.

The Orcs, witnessing the death of their chieftain and the partial collapse of the portal, are disheartened and retreat through the portal. Though the immediate threat is repelled, the humans have suffered immense losses, including their king. The war is far from over. The final scene shows the infant Go'el, floating downriver, discovered by a human, hinting at his future role. The film concludes with the human leaders mourning their fallen, knowing that the Orcs will return, and the conflict has only just begun, setting the stage for future wars.
