Summary:

X-Men: Apocalypse plunges audiences into 1983, where the world faces its gravest threat yet in En Sabah Nur, the original and most powerful mutant, also known as Apocalypse. After awakening from millennia of slumber, Apocalypse is disillusioned with humanity and the state of the world, deeming it weak and corrupt. Plot:

The film opens in ancient Egypt, 3600 BC, where En Sabah Nur, the world's first mutant known as Apocalypse, is undergoing a ritual. Surrounded by his Four Horsemen, he is transferring his consciousness and powers into a new, more powerful mutant body, specifically one with healing abilities. However, during the transfer, loyalists to the previous pharaoh stage a coup. They bury Apocalypse alive under tons of stone and rubble, entombing him and his Horsemen deep within a pyramid.

Fast forward to 1983, Cairo, Egypt. CIA agent Moira MacTaggert, investigating a cult, accidentally triggers a seismic event that exposes and awakens Apocalypse from his millennia-long slumber. Disoriented but quickly adapting, Apocalypse observes the modern world and finds it chaotic and weak, a stark contrast to the divine order he once imposed. He believes humanity has lost its way and that the strong must rise to lead, ushering in a new world order. His first act is to find and recruit new followers, beginning with Ororo Munroe, a young mutant with weather manipulation powers, whom he enhances, transforming her into Storm, his first Horseman.

Meanwhile, at Professor Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters in Westchester, New York, life is relatively peaceful. Jean Grey struggles to control her immense telepathic and telekinetic powers, often experiencing terrifying visions. Scott Summers, a rebellious teenager, accidentally manifests optic blasts during a schoolyard fight and is brought to the school by his older brother, Alex, where he meets Jean and other young mutants. Raven Darkhölme, known as Mystique, has become an accidental hero for rescuing mutants in public, though she prefers a more discreet life, advocating for mutant acceptance. She encounters Kurt Wagner, a blue-skinned, teleporting mutant known as Nightcrawler, in an underground fight club in Berlin and brings him to the school.

Erik Lehnsherr, Magneto, has been living a quiet life in Poland under the alias "Henryk Gursky," working in a steel mill and raising a family with his wife and young daughter, Nina. His powers are accidentally revealed when he saves a coworker, leading to the authorities being called. In a tragic confrontation, the police accidentally kill Erik's wife and daughter, reigniting his deep-seated hatred and rage towards humanity. He retaliates violently, killing the officers, and flees, consumed by grief and vengeance. Apocalypse senses his immense power and emotional turmoil, finding Erik in Poland and offering him a chance to unleash his fury and help build a new world. Erik, broken and seeking retribution, accepts, becoming Apocalypse's most powerful Horseman.

Apocalypse also recruits Betsy Braddock, a powerful telepathic warrior known as Psylocke, who was working for an underground mutant broker, and Warren Worthington III, a mutant with large feathered wings known as Angel, whom he transforms into Archangel, giving him razor-sharp metallic wings. With his Four Horsemen assembled, Apocalypse uses Xavier's Cerebro, which he connects to through Xavier's mind, to amplify his powers. He broadcasts a message to the entire world, forcing humans to witness his power and causing global chaos by making world leaders launch all nuclear missiles into space, effectively disarming humanity and clearing the way for his "cleansing."

During this global event, Apocalypse and his Horsemen attack the X-Mansion, intending to kidnap Xavier and transfer his consciousness into Xavier's body, thus gaining his immense telepathic abilities and becoming an unstoppable, omnipotent being. Peter Maximoff, Quicksilver, arrives at the mansion just as the attack begins, having finally decided to tell Magneto that he is his son. Quicksilver uses his super speed to evacuate most of the students from the mansion before it is destroyed, but Xavier is captured by Apocalypse. Mystique, Beast, Quicksilver, Moira, Cyclops, Jean, and Nightcrawler are then ambushed by Colonel William Stryker's forces, who had been tracking mutant activity, and are taken to Stryker's secret facility at Alkali Lake.

At Alkali Lake, the captured mutants are held in cells. Jean, overwhelmed by the facility's dark energy and the suffering within, senses a powerful, tormented mind. She unleashes her powers, freeing a feral Weapon X, Wolverine, from his prison. Wolverine, in a berserker rage, slaughters Stryker's soldiers, allowing the X-Men to escape. They commandeer Stryker's jet and, with the help of Moira, head to Cairo to confront Apocalypse and rescue Xavier.

In Cairo, Apocalypse begins the consciousness transfer ritual, weakening Xavier and causing immense psychic feedback across the globe. The X-Men arrive and launch a desperate assault. Nightcrawler battles Archangel, Cyclops confronts Psylocke, and Beast takes on Storm. Inside Apocalypse's pyramid, Xavier fights Apocalypse on the astral plane, attempting to disrupt the transfer. Magneto, torn between his loyalty to Apocalypse and his lingering connection to his friends, initially uses his powers to aid Apocalypse in creating a metallic shield around the pyramid. However, Mystique appeals to his humanity and his bond with Xavier, reminding him of his choice to protect the innocent. Seeing his friends fight valiantly and witnessing Apocalypse's true destructive nature, Magneto turns against Apocalypse, using his powers to tear apart the ancient mutant's protective armor.

As the battle rages, Jean Grey's powers reach their breaking point. With encouragement from Xavier and the other X-Men, she unleashes the full, raw power of the Phoenix Force, a cosmic entity residing within her. The Phoenix Force manifests as a fiery aura, overwhelming and utterly destroying Apocalypse, disintegrating him completely. With Apocalypse defeated, his control over his Horsemen breaks. Storm, having witnessed Apocalypse's true cruelty, finally joins the X-Men. Magneto helps rebuild the X-Mansion, and Xavier, at Moira's request, restores her memories of him and the X-Men, which he had previously erased.

The film concludes with the newly formed X-Men team – Cyclops, Jean Grey, Nightcrawler, Storm, Quicksilver, and Beast – training in the Danger Room, preparing for future threats, signifying the dawn of a new era for mutant heroes.
