Zinda Dili (Arasu)
Summary:
Shivaraj, the idle heir to a business empire, is challenged by his crush, Shruthi, to earn Rs. 5,000 on his own. He accepts, leaving his privileged life to experience hardship and find a job. Along the way, he falls for a kind, middle-class girl, Aishwarya, leading to a complicated love triangle when he discovers Aishwarya and Shruthi are best friends, forcing him to make a difficult choice that transforms all their lives.
Plot (Movie Story):
The film introduces Shivaraj "Arasu" (Puneeth Rajkumar), a young man from an incredibly wealthy business family. He has spent most of his life as an NRI, idling away his time and living a luxurious, carefree existence, completely dependent on his inherited wealth. His manager, Ramanna (Srinivasa Murthy), advises him to return to India and take charge of the family's well-progressing companies.
Once in India, Arasu finds it challenging to adjust to a more structured life after his indulgent American lifestyle. He falls in love with Ramanna's daughter, Shruthi (Ramya), and proposes marriage to her. However, Shruthi, a strong-willed and principled woman, is unimpressed by his spoiled habits and lack of ambition. She sharply rebukes his lifestyle and challenges him to earn at least ₹5,000 a month on his own, without using any family influence, before she would even consider his proposal. She also makes a cutting remark about his company.
Stung by Shruthi's words, Arasu takes up the challenge. He dramatically quits the company and leaves his luxurious life behind, setting out to find a job and earn money independently. Now on the streets with no money, Shivaraj struggles immensely. He experiences hunger and rejection, a stark contrast to his pampered past. He even tries to get a meal at a hotel, promising to pay later, but is thrown out. He encounters an old lady selling bananas, and after eating two, he promises her a large sum of money later, which she dismisses.
At this low point, he meets Aishwarya (Meera Jasmine), an ordinary, kind-hearted middle-class girl. When some rowdies attack her, Shivaraj's innate strength and fighting skills emerge, earning him Aishwarya's respect and a good name. Impressed by his actions, he secures a job as a sales representative in the saree shop where Aishwarya works. Sympathetic to his plight, Aishwarya also offers him a small room in her house to live in for a month.
Living in Aishwarya's humble home, Shivaraj adapts to a simpler life, sleeping on the floor. His good nature and willingness to help the people in his new colony earn him immense respect and affection. He realizes the value of hard work and the realities of life, attributing his transformation to Shruthi's initial challenge and Aishwarya's unwavering support. He grows very fond of Aishwarya, who, in turn, falls deeply in love with him.
Meanwhile, back in his privileged world, Shruthi realizes her feelings for Shivaraj have grown, and she is ready to marry him. A complex love triangle unfolds when Shruthi and Aishwarya, unbeknownst to Shivaraj, are revealed to be very close friends. Aishwarya, deeply in love with Shivaraj, confides in Shruthi, surprising her. When Aishwarya goes away, Shruthi, feeling remorseful about Shivaraj's earlier struggles and seeing his newfound maturity, seeks his forgiveness, which he readily grants.
Now, both Shruthi and Aishwarya, out of their deep friendship and selflessness, decide to sacrifice their love for Shivaraj for the sake of the other. Shruthi is willing to give him up for Aishwarya, and Aishwarya is willing to do the same for Shruthi.
Faced with this emotional dilemma, the now matured and intelligent Shivaraj takes a bold and unconventional step. Without revealing his final decision, he convinces both Shruthi and Aishwarya to marry two of his good friends, Vijay and Vinay, ensuring they find happiness. In a surprising twist at the very end of the film, as the film concludes, a new woman, Arpitha (Shriya Saran in a cameo), suddenly appears, proclaiming her love for Shivaraj, leaving his future open-ended.
