ZOOLANDER 2 (2016)

Summary:

Fifteen years after their heyday, former male supermodels Derek Zoolander and Hansel McDonald find themselves living in obscurity, having fallen out of fashion and suffered personal tragedies. When they are unexpectedly invited to a major fashion event in Rome, they hope to regain their former glory.

However, their return to the fashion world quickly embroils them in a global conspiracy involving the murders of beautiful pop stars, all of whom died making Derek's signature "Blue Steel" pose. Recruited by Interpol agent Valentina Valencia, Derek and Hansel must use their unique (and often misguided) talents to uncover the truth and save the world of fashion, and perhaps even Derek's estranged son.

Plot:

Following the events of the first film, the "Derek Zoolander Center for Kids Who Can't Read Good" collapsed, killing Derek's wife Matilda and injuring Hansel. Derek became a "hermit crab" (a hermit) in northern New Jersey, while Hansel retreated to the deserts of Malibu with his diverse polyamorous family. Both are estranged from the fashion world and from each other. An invitation from Billy Zane prompts them to reunite and travel to Rome for a major fashion show hosted by Don Atari and Alexanya Atoz, hoping to reclaim their past fame.

Upon arrival, they are met by Interpol agent Valentina Valencia, a former swimsuit model, who informs them that several pop stars have been murdered, each dying with Derek's "Blue Steel" pose on their faces. Valentina believes Derek and Hansel are connected to an ancient prophecy about the "Chosen One" who holds the key to the fountain of youth. Their investigation leads them to discover that Jacobim Mugatu, believed dead, is alive and masterminding the conspiracy from a high-security fashion prison. Mugatu plans to kill the Chosen One, who turns out to be Derek's son, Derek Jr., believing that consuming his blood will grant eternal youth.

Derek and Hansel, with Valentina's help, infiltrate Mugatu's compound during a fashion show. They confront Mugatu, who reveals his plan to use the fashion industry's elite to sacrifice Derek Jr. In a climactic showdown, Derek, Hansel, and Mugatu's former assistant Todd, along with a surprising appearance by Sting, manage to thwart Mugatu's plan. Derek Jr. is saved, and Derek and Hansel finally reconcile with their families and each other, finding new purpose in their lives beyond fashion, though not entirely abandoning it.
